What a surprise and yes, I took them home.

Bought a few tools at auction today, but my best buy was a pile of wood on top of an old cabinet and the contents for $2.00.  I frequently buy such wood as I do considerable woodworking and few ever bid against me. The contents didn't appear to be of any value, the only thing I could see were some old rags.  The cabinet was very deep and low so I had to get down on my knees to see inside.  Low and behold, three large ammo cans against the back wall.  Pulled them out, like new, just covered in a lot of dirt.  Opened them and the contents amounted to 1000 rounds of Remington 223 in the original boxes.  The price on each box of 20 was $4.95. :a102:

The rest of the story includes the  the 1000 223, 60 5.56, 67 12 gage, 450 22LR and clips, cleaning kit and supplies.

Matt is right on the money with this.
How many grains and what type of bullet like FMJ or soft point? Knowing that could also help with dating the wonderful stash.
