May or may not require commercial insurance and/or registration due to GVWR.
It will have 4.10 or 4.56 gears so 170k miles will be a lot more total revolutions of the drivetrain than a similar F250/350. It may not go much faster than 60 without being revved to hell.
19.5 commercial tires are awesome for life and highway use, but are hard as a rock. Not the best for snow. I'd hold out for a 4x4. That thing has a larger turning radius than a freight train as well.
20 year old electrical systems are no fun either. My 99 has a slew of issue all in the electrical system. It has aged like milk.
The powerjoke should be mostly trouble free. Injectors and cups would be a biggish potential repair. Non-running as-is means it would have to go super cheap to be worth messing with.

That's a real super duty... The 7.3 is all but bullet proof. but its still a 20 yr old truck.

Yeah the red tag on the steering wheel scares me. I`ll just watch it see what happens.
I`d like something to just move all the junk over then sell it.

Without taking a close look at it I would not mess with it. You have no idea if the engine is shot or not and if it would need new tires for the trip due to age/condition of the existing ones. GVW issues could also cause problems with DOT if they pulled you over or when you go to license it.
I hired a 48' flatbed to haul the stuff from our shop up here to NV. It was very reasonable using a broker for the truck but an expense for the riggers on each end. It was the safest way to get the machinery, crates, cabinets, rolling ladders and forklift up here. It would be no fun sitting on the side of the road broke down with a load of valuable tools and a big tow truck out in the boonies would cost a small fortune. Just my thoughts.

Looks like a concrete foundation/flatwork type truck. Been driven by multiple construction workers. Unless I could hear it run, they are already over my max bid. Scrap its only worth 400 or so around here
I have a 1995 3500hd bucket truck. Only 108,000 miles but I've spent way more on it than its worth. Its at shop for state inspection, because of GVW its a commercial inspection. Last year it cost a new front end and brakes for inspection, this year leaking pinion seal and few other little things. Still be 500 bucks for a vehicle I drive 1500 or 2000 miles a year.

Picture #50 is what concerned me. The oil fill tube cap is gone, wiring looks to have been messed with, and the coolant degas looks empty. The ol'7.3 is rock solid (mine has 396,000) but as mentioned electrical gremlins, rubber tubes, and seals are becoming a problem.
My dad drives a f450, as long as its personally owned it dose not need DOT #'s or commercial license. I wouldnt spend much over starting bid on it, but knowing gov planet it will bring $3k.

That's a beast.
As for timing , the cost of properties out there has reached the pre 2009 boom. Its surprisingly expensive. I may have to wait for a bust again.
