i saw this at an auction a couple weeks back. most i have seen have gone for silly money or at least more than i wanted to pay. i started it at 10, somebody bid 15. i bid 20 and it went home with me. it had a shitty stand that was made from several cobbled together heavy pieces of rusty, heavy iron. i think it actually helped me as noone wanted to mess with moving it. i took the screws loose with my leatherman and left the stand with the scrap iron guy for free!
the cord is good and i bet the stone and brush are original. the only thing missing is one of the shields. it will make a nice winter project for a stormy day. i bet it will clean up nice and a new stone and brush will smooth out it's slight vibration.

You will be surprised at how powerful it is even though only a 1/3HP.

....so true! I have a 1/3HP model running a belt sander attachment and you really have to push it to make it stall.
Harlan -- the side shields are not that hard to make. You can make one in less than a day.

Real nice score.
I love my 1958 1/4hp ( though I'd probably like more power if I could get it ), but it's definitely rusty and ratty.

I think that's the one I picked up this spring. Like said great grinder!

Cool!
I'm keeping my eyes open for a 1/3 or 1/2 blocker grinder for shop use.

After getting educated on "block" grinders here, the only one I've seen in the wild was two winters ago. Was in the basement shop, at an estate sale. Like new, good stones, and gray Craftsman stand. They wanted $75, which was more than was in my pocket. Besides already have 5 grinders.

I’ve got one you can have if you want to stop by my house.

If someone would post up pics and dimensions of the cooling tray, I'd like to fab one up so it mounts like the OEM.

rainy day and i cleaned her up a bit.
a new stone, a new brush and a new light socket assembly. looks pretty good. stamped 1975 on the bottom.
notice it is fully spooled up. it runs quiet but does vibrate a little from the wire wheel. never seen one that didn't.

Here's the large one. Let me know if you want the smaller one.
