Military Privilege for Children
« on: January 20, 2022, 06:15:01 PM »
Guess I forgot to tell my two daughters that after my 28+ years in the AF with the eldest born in South Carolina and the other in Bremerhaven Germany and a number of additional moves to include a tour in Saudi Arabia as a family that they are privileged.  As an aircrew member I was away for extended periods of time so Mom took care of things while I was logging hours in an aluminum can.

While I would never wish to replace my career in the military and disruptive moves it made them stronger with changes in home, schools, and friends.  Their experiences have shaped their lives positively but certainly not as privileged.

Certainly not privileged Nick. Take the article with a grain of salt. I came from there, and have seen a great school system that was once ranked tops in the entire US, turn into a system that emphasizes a lot of politically correct socialist mumbo jumbo. The old meritocracy that once recruited the best teachers and produced some of the brightest scholars has given way to a woke culture where everyone is given a prize -- even if they didn't earn it. Good teachers are leaving or retiring in droves. It won't change until parents get involved and start making noise. It's happening in Loudoun County, so there may be hope yet.

That privilege bingo bull crap is exactly what is wrong with the education system in parts of the country. They need to get back to education and not confusing kids with the privilege, gender identity, racist and other BS.

I see military families as a family that has had to endure hardships that many others don't. I thank you Nick for your service and your family for what they had to endure along with you.

Gotta agree military kids endure many things that are not privilege.  Makes me wonder of the mindset of whoever picked the privilege categories, really works against whatever point they are trying to make.

Instead of trying to make everybody equal, how about helping those who do start with less excell, like providing a good sound education that involves maybe math, science, history, reading and writing. And maybe some skills training also.

Wow that this kind of disruptive crap is being taught in schools
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

More woke BS. You can tell whoever wrote that was never a military kid.

Not associated with Nick's military privilege post, but here's another extreme example of what a toxic politically correct woke school system is capable of.
Long story short. The substitute teacher was dismissed because she didn't "meow" back to a student who identified as a cat. -- you just can't make this crap up.

Not sure if the facts are all in on this one, but given the current woke culture, I believe what's in the article.

Midland Public School in Michigan is very accommodating to kids who identify as cats. They have put a litter box in a unisex bathroom. ::)

I cant imagine what would have occurred if I came home and told Momma to start treating me like a cat. But I did see her boot the cat thru the screen door once. probably the same would have happened to me too.  :106:

I am questioning the cat story, it just sounds too fake.

All I could find was the same repeated story with no confirmation.  I sure hope it is a hoax
