Salvaged Proto #1383 mallet

The short story is this came to me with some oak heads that quickly split when given a good whack. The tips are NLA, but a screwdriver handle sure makes a close donor. The PO had ground off the nibs that hold the tips on.

Roll pins hold the whole shebang together.

I have bought a few sets, and they are quite good. But, then again, they don't have the same character as yours do.

That listing didnt seem to be around when I was looking. Then again, the little nibs that are formed on the hammer head "protrusions" were ground off by the PO, thus the need to drill through and roll pin the ends.

Free ends (from a donor) beats the $13, but if mine had those nibs, I'd probably spring for those.
