I'm going to need to swap out quite a few bushings in my trans overhaul and didn't want to booger any up using sockets so I ordered me a real driver set.

Now I'll see what I've been missing using sockets all these years.

Elroy placed an order today with Grainger on a close-out item. It's Grainger part number 6NX26 that identifies a 7" diameter green silicon carbide grinding wheel. List price of $52.25

https://www.grainger.com/product/WESTWARD-Type-1-Silicon-Carbide-Straight-6NX26

Sale price: $8.16  >:(

That's good deal. They still have a few in the system if anyone is interested. Act now or forever hold your peace.

Thanks for the heads up on the wheel. I use 7x1x1 silicon carbide wheels on a Baldor grinder for sharpening tooling. My wheels are in great shape but I'll let the wife know in case they need any at the shop.

Got my NOS Chapman Bit ratchet in, based on the box I'm assuming it's older but knowing how it often goes with old companies like Chapman I'll bet they continued the use of classic style packaging for quite some time.
It's probably not as old as the packaging might suggest.

I also got these Proto adapters in, now I just need some wrenches to use them in.
Always lookin' to learn

I just ordered the little bit spinner from Chapman.
$1.50 is very reasonable, but the shipping was $4  :-\
Probably should have looked for some kind of bit I needed, I know I could use a #1 Robertson for taking apart and adjusting the sights on modern clamshell Crosman rifles but i wasn't even thinking about that.

BTW the Chapman set will be going into my Airgun service kit.

That new (...ok used) welder (...errr plasma) smell in the shop. Hypertherm Powermax 1250 off cl. Goofy tweakers couldn't make it arc because the consumables were so trashed. $1k Cash on the barrel head made the deal. Just cleaned ebay out for consumables and almost doubled the price of the machine  :o

Now I just have to get the rotten idea of a cnc table out of my head.

Nice, I really would like a plasma but just cant justify the cost with how much I would use it.

While not exactly tool oriented, Elroy wishes to advise that recent review of the "close-out" sections at Grainger has yielded addition economical purchases.
As an example, Elroy took delivery on part number 2EU55 at a cost of......................................42 Cents

https://www.grainger.com/product/GRAINGER-APPROVED-10-24-Machine-Screw-2EU55

Note the original list cost of $9.50
These deals remain available if one wishes to expend the effort.

I've had a chance to give the bushing driver set a workout and so far so good... BUT.. one small problems has cropped up. The little screws they use to hold the driver together is too weak for the usage. As seen in the pics the Allen cavity leaves very little metal left at the head area. A slight hit with the hammer and the head breaks and the inner driver falls free. I think a regular bolt will correct the problem, just gotta find a short metric.

That looks like it would break off and drop deep into the bowels of something right when you need to to least. I have nightmares about stuff like that.
