Have 5 Workmates, all different.  The biggest is very sturdy, got all mine used.  Have the first series with the alloy front bracket.   Used them hard for 10 years.   Yours with the foot pedal looks to be very handy.

I've been sporting Thorogoods for the past 5 years or so. Damn good boots.
I currently own 3 pairs of thorogood boots now, they have the perfect balance of quality comfortably and longevity for the money.
The biggest selling point for me is the machined brass speed hooks, my Justin conductor's ( discontinued in black) use the bent type that are always getting pinched on me .
The quality on Justin's isn't as good anyways, not bad but not as good.

I'm technically supposed to have all black boots at work, but I decided to say screw that.
These are black enough,  and I'm not compromising on footwear ( and my beliefs) for anybody just to meet a technicality.
If my boss says something ( he won't) I'll tell him this is what was available in my size that meets safety requirements , basically meets the dress code requirement, and meets my personal requirements.
I'm not buying imported crap, must be leather, no cemented construction, and I've gotta have a traditional boot not that anything else tends to meet my requirements anyways.

I may dye the stitching black, but I'm not going to bother with the soles.

Definitely.
If I could afford a pair of Nick's boots I'd go that route as they're one of the best money can buy, but Thorogoods have the right balance of quality and cost for me.

Kitchen tools and not one made in China.
- Australian brand aluminum meat mallet/tenderiser (Made in Taiwan, close but not actually China)
- JarKey. Since I work in an office I have girlie hands and sometimes have trouble opening jars. The fancy electric jar opener that used to be my mother's broke a leg off the other day. (Made in Denmark)
- An simple plastic bucket that is actually made in New Zealand and competes against Chinese imports. My neighbour growing up graduated a couple of years before me as a mechanical engineer from the same university as me, his first job was as a production engineer for the company that makes these buckets.

Jarkey?  Never heard of one but will be checking it out.  My hands are not what they used to be and jars can give me fits sometimes

Picked up a Jar key at Ace before I left there. I originally thought it was gimmicky but dang it works well! And as I get more stiffness in my hands that things helps to get lids off lars.
