How do you wash your engine?
« on: January 20, 2019, 11:13:46 AM »
My black trucks engine is starting to look a bit grubby so I`d like to wash it.
When washing my 97 effy I had issues with water getting in the coil packs and stuffing them up .
Don`t need that happening with the 14.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

The only precaution I take is if I have an engine that has a control module or starter in the engine valley under the intake manifold. Water accumulates in there and kills electronics and starters very quickly. Other than that, individual coil packs do a great job sealing the plug tubes against moisture. Spray some wd 40 on your electrical connectors and gently hose the engine off.

I'd avoid using a high pressure washer -- that's just inviting problems.
