Sighting in Red dot
« on: July 28, 2020, 09:26:56 PM »
Well my father recently bought a 10/22 and out a red dot on it.

Well a couple of weeks ago he broke both his wrists.....

So he asked me to sight it in. The sighting in isn't my question. All else fails I can read the instructions. :))

My question is he wants it sighted in at 1" high at 50 yrds. I believe my club only has 100 yrd targets.

How would the trajectory equal out at 100 yrds? If I think right it should be about 4" low at 100?

Sounds easy, but there are some important variables that you need to consider -- even for a 22LR

start here, using the data from your ammo.

You can figure it based on the ammo specs and barrel to sight centerline distance. But depending on how fast that ammo shoots in your gun that trajectory could be off. Best way to get the gun hitting where your Dad wants is to sight it in at 50 yards. If you can't do it at the club just ride out to the farm.

Pistol range?

Well I drove by both the ranges I have available and both have 50 yrds targets. So were good to go!
