There used to be a Hi-Gear shop in my area that looked almost the same. It specialized in performance parts, but fuel economy craze of the 70s and 80s killed the business. It went out with a whimper -- but at the time, most of the guys working there were actual weekend racers.

I fell in love with them at the Rat Rod show I attend every year.  Very cool show as they let you take your car out on the old dirt track and make a little noise.  No real racing per se but they used to make a mud hole at one corner and guys would dip down, get a little squirrely and fling mud on the crowd.  That was at Latimore Pa race course.  They moved the venue last year to Lincoln speedway and I was anticipating a little more action but the rain stopped use of the course.  They actually had a stunt team with old cars from the 50's and 60's and that would have been a blast.

With the change in venue, they are able to run under the tracks insurance which was a problem at the other track.  Lincoln runs a full schedule every year so one more event made little difference,.

With air bags and crumple zones, cars are definitely safer today.  I t boned a guy who pulled out in front of me in my 95 Ford F150.  Air bag kept me from eating the steering wheel though I will say it gave me a hell of a punch.  As much as I dislike .gov telling me what to do, I am a big believer in air bags and seat belts

Besides the awesome Dodge Pilothouse on the quay, this is the boat that John Steinbeck and Ed Rickets sailed from Monterey to the Gulf of Mexico, the Western Flyer.

Yeah 99% of the safety features on vehicles today I am for. I have been enough accidents to know that seatbelts save lives.

The auto braking system is a great idea. However it worries me that it will lead people to think they don't have to pay attention to the road in front of them.
