That Nalleys truck just looks cool. I'd love to find one of those to mod up a bit.

I think some of those recoveries will be done just with jacks and some blocks of wood and lots of patience.

In the ESSO photo, neat Chevy convertible, on the ground by the station door,  is a big red device.   That is the drive unit fir on-the-car wheel balancing.  Sign says free wheel balancing].  I used one similar in 1972, nice because the hub, drum and wheel  got balanced.

good catch on the balancer.  I did see the sign and thought that was a great sales aid

I see those balancers at auctions once in a while.  Rarely bring much but a great idea

One tire store I worked in had a tire matching machine that could shave off bits of tread as the tire rotated to make them perfectly round.  Great idea, never saw it used, doubt anyone knew how because turnover was high

If one sees one of these balancers come up for sale look for all of it.  The full wheel cover had to come off.   The balancing device had to clamp onto the rim.  In the middle of it is an assenbly with 4 little smooth wheels, 2 for weight 2 for position.  You grasped these lightly while the wheel spun at 40 mph.  There were 3 adaptors, for 13, 14, and 15 inch wheels.  And if you didnt get them positioned correctly, and tight, it could come off, and take off across the shop.  Always felt it was a very accurate balancing method
