Been legal in Maryland since at least July if not sooner.  Finally the state has decided to take their cut.  Should of happened a long time ago.  Its not like you couldn't get it anyway and arresting people for smoking weed is a poor use of police and jail resources.

Glad you are over your medical issue!

i dont want to rile anyone up but i think think the older generation finally stopped believing the lies about weed that started being spread in 60 thru 80s and listening to medical data thats being released now by different sources. I for one would still use if i could to treat my medical conditions but since i want to own firearms and hunt again i had to make the choice to give it up and honestly a 100bucks a week on grass was a bit much and id rather invest in something im not gonna end up burning

It should remain illegal,  the stuff just turns those using it into idiots in my uptight opinion. And no, I have no interest in arguing the the subject.  I am old and getting cranky and just expressing my personal opinion.

I have no interest for it.

Are the laws the same as other controlled substances. Is high driving illegal, under the influence in public etc?

I get the recreational part. But just like alcohol it affects everyone different and some people can handle it others can't.

yes operating machinery/vehicles would be frowned upon... But as you said some handle it fine some dont ... My father has smoked weed since he was 12. And it did him fine never been introuble... Now he takes 2 hits and is out like a light reallly helps him deal with the cancer inhis prostate.me on the otherhand just helps me not puke and gett violently ill when eatting....now instead of smoking i take two lil pills that "might"work depending on what i eat.. As for in public i dont think its banned in public but i cant be sure i vaporized all over and while i got dirty looks in past i only been stopped by a cop once and as soon as i showed him my license it was mute

......my mom dads took issue with it but i havent had to deal with him since my mom died and last time they talked about legalizing it and had all kind of anti weed political signs around his house..actually was last time me and him talked when he told me how worthless i was cause i had a medical need for it and how i was going against god.... Asked him why he took viagra then cause his god cursed him with a floppy dick hes going against god will too.......that was when he took a swing at me last time i spoke o him and i hope the cranky ass has asllow painfull death specially after my dad toldme all the "accident " grandma had around the house were actually him assualting her

Had a customer in the carnival business.  Traveled around the region if not further.  Said he would take a pot smoker over a drinker any day of the week.  And with the quality of help he could hire, it pretty much was and either or situation, not much hope of hiring clean cut young people.

Medical has been legal in Maine for a decade, recreational for several years. There are both kinds of stores all over the freakin place. Anyone can get a medical card, doesn't matter if you actually using it for pain relief or whatever. There is a medical shop about 3 miles from me, you should see the lines of customers on a Saturday. Its unreal. They grow it there also, the skunk smell is strong going by at 40 Mph.

I've smoked my share in the past, true waste of time, oh well. The potency of the stuff today compared to the stuff back then is like night and day.

Just because the states legalized it doesn't mean the Feds are good with it. if you use you will fail a DOT physical and even with a script you will no longer be able to hold a CDL. Also the employers can still test for it and you can still be removed from employment because of it. And since its still a Fed crime you have no grounds for legal recourse. Be careful, lots of gray areas that haven't been resolved.

Its legal in some from in way more states then its illegal in. It won't be long before the POS congress legalizes it.

Don't know if the Fed will legalize but I think they will let it up to the states to decide and do away with the laws against it.  About the same end result

At some point it will become a non-issue. Barring DOT testing most all of the testing is driven by insurance companies not wanting to insure companies that dont test. Simple risk management. As the states legalize it and more people start using it, employers' will find they are unable to staff their business if they test. probably 15 years or so out but its coming.

DOT wont change due to the dangers of impaired driving. But the guys who can pee clean will be able to name their price.

Gotten close to that way here in Oregon. Trucking outfits can't find CDL drivers that can piss clean, and the few that can won't/can't shift a manual. There's several local haul dump truck outfits around that have multiple trucks parked even offering $35-40/hr. There's another large outfit that local hauls (home every night) chips from the sawmills to the paper mills as well as garbage in opossum belly chip trailers. They'll hire anybody with a CDL at $26/hr.  All their trucks are new western steers with autos and the job requires nothing buy driving point A to B, yet their lot is full of wrecked trucks and trailers with the sides ripped off.

Here's one of their super-truckers that forgot to pull the hitch a few weeks ago at the tipper. I'm sure he's still employed with them.

As far as weed goes, it's not for me, but I don't think it's any of the gov't business what you do in your free time. I don't like to see what it's done to a lot of people, especially middle aged women. There's a certain large chunk of the population that can't seem to live without being some level of stoned at all times. At every traffic light here, you see clouds of smoke rolling out of car windows, no matter the time of day. My best friend's wife has it bad. Gets up and smokes or hits the vape first thing in the morning. Lives here entire life in an altered reality. Makes me sad to see and I feel bad for her and the kids. And she's just one of a what seems like a million people choosing that path.
