Iron Transfusion
« on: September 25, 2020, 11:15:53 PM »
Been trying to hold off feeding The Sickness lately, but this tickled the right spot. Watched it on the list for almost a month before I succumbed to the urge today and came home 4 bills lighter.

18" Hisey-Wolf 5HP 1150 rpm pedestal grinder. Shows 440/480V, but I'll pull it off the base and see if there's any low voltage wires hiding up in the case. Probably about 1k lbs with the piece of 1-1/2 plate bolted on the bottom.

I know pedestal grinders are mostly just a dick swinging contest, but it's one of my guilty pleasures to partake in, so if you have a bigger one, post it up.  :-*

Better get your compass out and check for a change in magnetic north. You may have just altered the planets ability to navigate with that chunk of iron.

Nice work!

 :-\      That’s freaking huge.

If you can’t fix it with a hammer, it must be electrical.

The left wheel is getting pretty small. There's some 18" scotch brite deburring wheels on ebay for under $100, so it might get one of those on it. Norton wants $960 plus freight for a single wheel  :-\

Nice grinder Jab. I need to move the switch up top, mount some lighting, and make a tool tray with quench pot for it like yours.
