Title: Just a hammer
Post by: john k on November 14, 2020, 11:17:21 PM
Hammers find me.  This tiny thing begged me to take it home.  Somewhere I saw  a similar tool,  jewelers hammer, maybe.  handle shows less wear than the work faces.  Head  about 5/8 in. Diameter , both sides.  Be glad for someone to give a pos. ID.

I believe it is a doming hammer. Nice little hammer I would have found a place in the sheet metal tools drawer for it but likely it was for finer work.

Possibly a planishing hammer for silver or very thin sheet metal.  Same purpose as body hammers, but lighter duty

Either that long handle is purpose-built for the hammer, or I better check the baluster count on the stairs of my old house. :)
