It sure looks a lot like the Vise Fireball tool made on his YouTube channel.

Did he start making them, or did someone just download his plans and start making them to sell ?

K tool and this K Vise are different entity's. Other then that you know about as much as I do.

I understand that it was bound to happen, but I do still think it's stealing when it's someone else's design and the available plans were only intended for people wanting to make one for themselves.

At $950 plus shipping I wouldn't worry about them making and selling all that many.

Does look thin but if you look at the pics on the link, it appears to made out of plate steel welded together, not cast or forged, so maybe its strong enough

For 950 I'd be scouring marketplace or craigs list for something used before I bought that

I'm probably crazy , but my biggest issue with the price is that it's not actually marked.

If I payed that much I want a big bold MADE IN USA permanently marked into both sides to make it worth more than scrap value to whoever inherits it.

They'll likely have no interest in tools, but eventually MADE IN USA is going to be so uncommon that every single American will see big cartoon dollar signs when they read that phrase.

Probably.
Now a person who buys the plans from fireball tool and makes one themselves,  now that guy is gonna be a different story.
