Stuck in Winona, Minnesota
« on: June 18, 2020, 06:53:48 PM »
Broke down 300 miles from home.   Spending the night in Winona, Mn.    Got my pickup towed here,  me thinks pinion bearings locked up, rear wheels locked up and  slid to a stop on the shoulder of I-90.   Hoping i can rent a pickup and trailer tomorrow, or at least a car,  to go get my other pickup and trailer.  Unless someone has a  nice rollback closeby they are not using?     Reason for the trip......long story , girlfriend is here with me.     Whatta day

Sheesh that's a bummer mate, hope it all works out.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Made it home last nite, in a u-haul cargo van.   350 miles with cool ac, but no cruise control.  Cab is tight enough the seat wont tilt back when am adjusted back from the wheel.   Loaded the furniture and stuff just before the rain hit.  Couldnt get the car trailer, pickup too long to fit.  Extended cab, long box 97 chevy.  Resting up this weekend,  heading back Monday, before the tow lot fees exceed the price of the truck.  Also borrowing a 3/4 ton pickup to tow my trailer rather than trust my 96 Chevy 1/2 ton.   Also the roads down into Winona, Mn.  are in the 45% grade category,  a good deal like the road into Estes park, Colo.  Really blowing the budget this summer, at least gas is cheap.

Glad you made it home OK. I'd hate to be stranded away from home in times like these.

Yikes on the tow grades. I've done that many a time. Stay safe please.

Me and the pickup home safe.  Quite a trip through some rain storms on monday  rented a  new Dodge diesel to pull my trailer.  Hard to give it back.  Could not tell the trailer was back there, even loaded.  Up a back in 16 hours.  Now to use these long summer days to get back to my projects.  All I am out are 3 days and a chunk of cash.
