My dad and grandparents just after the war in northern California, somewhere outside of Stockton or Lodi.

Yes, my dad is wearing lederhosen, as my grandmother was very German. Though she was born in Canada at Medicine Hat.

And the woman just sits there drying her hair like that happens every day.

A shame though - those Henry J's were pretty cool cars.
People who confuse etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can’t put into words.

Pickfords Heavy Haulage at Darlington Forge. Amazingly Pickfords haulage can be traced all the way back to 1646 when Thomas Pickford started moving large goods via horse and carriage. Moving on to 1920's with this picture of a Scammell tractor unit where we can see one of only two of the worlds first 100 ton road going means of haulage, taking another of the many components via road likely to Middlesbrough or Newcastle Docks.

Is that "ringleader -- Mr. Schallmo" your grandpa that you mentioned in the other thread TM? Pretty cool!
Like many men of the time, they may not have been big of stature, but life and work probably made them tough as spring steel.

My greatgrandpa worked in a quarry as a mason. He was skinny as a rail until the day he passed, but he could do extreme manual labor in the hottest/coldest and dirtiest of environments, and lift tremendous loads for 10 hours a day. Unimaginable these days --

Yes that 'ringleader' is Grandpa Schallmo - built like a fireplug, and just as tough. A man of few words.

The tandem "bumper jacks" aren't high enough to lift the car though -- LOL

Wrong angle to tell if she is a natural blonde.
