Title: A very different hack saw

Don't remember if it was before or after the crash, but when showing hack saws I don't believe anything like this one came up.  Looks like a normal hand saw until you look at the blade.  There must be a reason for this, but it escapes me.  It was made in the UK----does that explain it??  Seriously, must be a use for this type as it doesn't seem like a cheap item.

I don't see previsions for tensioning the blade? A hacksaw with a limp dik loose blade sounds like a nighmare to use. Cool design in that there's not limit to the depth you could cut, only the amount of wheaties you had for breakfast.

Eclipse were a decent tool company so certainly not a cheap item. I'm guessing the reason for that design is unlimited depth of cut.

If you click on the bottom pic to enlarge it you can read the directions for changing the blade. It sounds like the screw above the one holding the blade tensions the blade. Looks like a nice saw to have in the arsenal.

Pretty cool. I was wondering about the tensioning as well.

I can see though where if the frame of a regular hacksaw got in the way this would be an improvement. It the blade can be tensioned.

Disston made a metal cutting saw before WWII.  Looks just like a regular hand saw.  Finally found one at  garage sale.  Was also sharpenable.  That  Brit made saw is interesting.

Took it apart and checked the tensioning.  The screw above the one holding the blade in an elongated hole about 1/2 inch long.  It is attached to a bar on the other side which can be pushed while the screw is tightened.  Thus, it can be tensioned.
