Title: Nail pullers do a good job of butchering wood.
Post by: coolmercury on August 17, 2018, 06:49:44 PM
Here are a couple of nail pullers that I still use when knocking down structures.  Top one is a Union Hardware and the bottom one is an L. T. Snow.

Those look like something you'd use when dressed in a black leather hood.

I agree,  guess they were a last resort tool, when the nail simply had to come out.  Back then more wood and ones time were pretty cheap.

I guess it saves you from burning down the outhouse (or barn) to reclaim the square head nails for building moms new porch.

If memory serves, those were specifically for pulling nails in crated goods, where the wood wasn't especially for saving.

I sold a couple of those pullers to a guy who worked for a demolition company. In his line of work those were the best tool to use. He got all excited when he saw the style and name of the ones I had as he said he couldn't find those anymore.
