Are you thinking of pulling or replacing the innerstructure?

Hope you post pix along the way.

That should be a neat project especially if you know Volvos.

I agree, keep us posted

That should have been a 442.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Many a year ago, I had the same circa Volvo in a 244 GL configuration. Diesel she was, resplendent in the same color with the Audi mill. Smoked to high heaven, I bought it for pennies with the hopes of refurbing it, for my (at the time), 60 mile round trip commute to the city. The wifes car at the time was the 245 GLT. I kept the 244 for a few years (perhaps more), and flipped it. The interior was MINT, body straight. One of many that has passed through my back 40 gates.

Of course this old hippie had a Volvo as well...1980 244 with a single SU carb. Driving it was like rowing a boat.

Looking forward to seeing progress pix from your project!

Thanks for all the reply's!
1st it was cheap $450.00! I have been out of work since last February. So it will stay cheap.  ::)
I originally thought about another V8 swap, more power than the Mrs. V8 Volvo but driving it home made me appreciate it as is. Stock well maintained fun to drive, could use a 5th gear but around town it scoots or at least gets out of its own way. It has aftermarket (IPD) sway bars front and rear.
I have a local metal shaping group possibly coming over to have a meet at my shop (Jabber call me if interested!)
to help work over the 1/4.
Just spent a couple hours at PnP this afternoon to get a brake booster for it and had a nice young fellow, after seeing me struggle, help remove the last bolt. Also snagged an antenna, now "AM radio will reign supreme once again"
(anyone get the reference?)

Wow that was a great deal. Looks like you have this one well covered.

I believe the quote was a song but I can't put my finger on it.

Maybe both? We will see how things go with the metal meet. I did pick up a replacement 1/4, just in case.
