Pawnie finds 1-4-19
« on: January 04, 2019, 02:17:31 PM »
Nice little lot!
I don't particularly like ergonomic" ratchets, but I had one of these 1/4" Matco's before. Nice small and thin head, but unlike other small head rats the handle is decent sized. I don't remember why I sold it, but finding this one this morning was great. It and the 1/4" Snappy are soaking in JAFE juice to see if I can save them. Some teflon tape and steel rods plus a Zoom Spout oiler round out the lot.

I'm a Snappie guy but I really like that Wright. They are great ratchets and one of the best roundies around. I have some of them and they get used a bunch. I think it will quickly become a favorite once you start using it.
People who confuse etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can’t put into words.

Oh yeah I'm gonna love it!

After an hour soak in the "Juice" I was able to get both rats apart, cleaned and lubed. The Snappy is still a bit high on the back drag, and the pawl is worn. I may call and get a new kit sent.
The Matco literally starting working instantly, but I disassembled it just for kits. Internals were clean, so I'm gonna repant the selector knob black and reassemble.

Hey slip knot, what's the part number of the corresponding 3/8"er? I don't need another ratchet  :-[ but I might try and find the 3/8" anyway.
P.S. Got the numbers off of ebay. BR8 (8 inch) and BR11 (11 inch)
1/2" is CR11 DP

It was about half full, so I'll top it off with Supco 88 and keep it handy for bronze bearings, ratchets, etc. Can't have too many of those long spout bottles around.

Do they make a long, flex head version of that style in 1/4", SK? I don't use flexheads very much at all, but there have been times a long flex with a small head like the 1/4"er would have been handy.

Then again, it'd probably cost $60.  :-\ I only paid a $1 each for the rats.

I'm liking that little Matco ratchet alot. Gonna have to get the other ones and post a triple play.

I forgot to mention the extension with the offset knuckle. never had one to use that wasn't damaged. This GM marked one is in great shape, and 6 inches long, so I think it'll be perfect for testing out the 15 deg offset they're supposed to give. See if that actually helps anything.
