Today I was looking for some photos of a trip to Adelaide a few years ago. I didn't find them but I did find a whole lot of random ones.

1. Sign for the guys selling watermelons on the side of the road last summer
2. Submerged arc welding of a 40mm (1.5") plate for a bridge girder
3. Shadow, a friend's dog
4. A MAN stock truck demonstrator

Nice beads on that submerged arc. How many passes to finish that 1.5" plate? I used to assist a welder using submerged arc to weld sections of large feedwater heaters for the nuke plants. Welds were x-rayed at random spots and at all cross joints.

I`d love to watch that welder at work.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Rural53 & Gang,

Found an interesting aerial photo on the Bing site; elephants on the move...

Interesting POV too.

Hope you like it as much as I did.

When my wife leaves me, my dog dies, and they repossess my home, I'll still have my tools.

Not my photos.

Pollock Cranes lifting their Grove GMK-5130 out of the basement of the car park development next door to my office with their Grove GMK-6400 (the biggest all terrain crane in the country). The lift was 58 tons at 17 metres (128,000lb@56').

I wonder if the TBM Avenger is the one that used to live in NZ? I'm sure it went to Planes of Fame.

Last night's sunset from the top of the Kaimai Ranges. The range of hills separating the Bay of Plenty from the Waikato.
