Looks nice.
The HFA stand I bought last year is pretty much worthless.
The tube is thin walled and I just couldn't get the base tight, all it did was crush the tube.

A little tip to prevent crushing the tube. You can see a bolt that locks the tube, also notice there is a jam nut.
The trick is to run the bolt in so the tube is locked in place, not slipping. Then run the nut in bottoming out against the flange.
Maybe get some longer bolt add a jam nut to the mix?
You can make HF work, just needs some re-engineering sometimes.

I have a few ideas of how I could fix it, but I have to get the tube opened back up first.

Maybe replace it, without knowing the size, for example, if 3" you can buy exhaust pipe (napa).
There should be plenty types of material for that, plus I'm guessing the grinder is not that heavy, 1/2, 3/4 hp ?

An old 50's Craftsman block body, actually only a 1/4hp.
