I planted my fall tomato plants. I'm a few weeks late but maybe global warming will help me out some.

Opened the club track this morning to allow one of our club members to run his Class 8 -  Open Truck to test his new gearbox and do some shock tuning.

One of the other Class 8 guys turned up to watch in his LQ9 powered Jeepster that he has just finished restoring.

We needed to be finished by midday as the car club was running a day/night rally sprint in the afternoon. Gave them a hand to clear some fallen trees.

I like 893, rocking.

Using a new face mill squaring a piece, I think I toasted the motor, or was just happen stance.

OK 4 bolts pull the motor and replace 2 hours at most, right .... not so. More like 5, the motor shaft has a key. That was rusted inside the drive shaft.

Cut the motor housing off, leaving the armature exposed. That allowed access to the top plate. So I could remove the drive shaft and what was left of the motor.

To the rescue comes the pickle fork to separate the two. Mult-tasking using a pickle fork at it finest LOL .

Chinese quality Pep -- I have a similar (but more basic round column) machine from HF. They do what they are designed to do, but quality and durability was always an afterthought. Good luck!

The HF has a geared drive ?
It will not happen again that's for sure, greased that puppy going back together. My biggest concern is the power/load a face mill, chomping out a cut at .030  could be putting on the motor. Heating the electrics to a point of melt down.

Recently I acquired a fly cutter and the face mill seen. Both 3in diameter, the fuse never blew so I did not push things to far.

The next or insurance plan, purchased a Volt & Amp display. Placing that on top of the power box, having the digital display will allow real time tracking. Right now it is just a heat guess, touching the motor case with my hand.

Could have just been a defective part also.

It's built , but unfortunately could not find a 4 circuit M/F connector to finish the install. Once upon a time Radio shack was local, now ebay and snail mail. Ain't it great takes forever to get shit done.

So I went outside and repaired two trailers today, one mounted a tail gate, paying job. Second finished repairing cracks in both fenders of a car trailer I am going put up for sale.

Nice trailer hidden ramps slide out, electric brake, spare tire, tool box (steel), working lights, and trailer tires, freshening up the paint also.

after finishing up a toilet repair in GFs trailer that required replacing some OSB board floor, mainly sat and watched it rain.   More rain around here is as welcome as smallpox, since the Missouri River has been over bank ful since April.  Some hundred thousand acres of corn underwater and some highways closed

Went to the airport to drop off some tools for the crew working on our chapter airplane build. Then went over to the hangar across the ramp from our chapter house to check out the bead blaster they are donating to us as they bought a new bigger Eastwood blaster. Since they just got a delivery of nearly a dozen former AF and Navy trainers to rebuild they have plenty of blasting to do. The donated one is in good shape and they even gave us the shop vac setup to go with it.
