Funny, Merk hasn't been around for several years and we still remember his fondness for large ladies :))

What did I do today?

Picked olives. Processed olives. Pressed olives.

Also yesterday and the day before.

My olive pressed extract seems to to have the unique capability to defy the laws of physics. We all know that oil and water don't mix.

My extract oil contains water that won't un-mix. Curious.

Parked on the opposite side of the building I work in this morning and went to the podiatrist. He cut the ingrown toe nail out and I was home by 9:30. Spent the rest of the day lounging around in bed reading and surfing the interwebs. I've got to stay off my feet as much as possible tomorrow and Sunday.  Already bored so I don't know what I'm going to be like by the end of the weekend!

Beer....plenty of beer.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Beer....plenty of beer.
I have considered that as a coping strategy!

Went to wack some weed and the weed eater finally quit. The Handle failed in the middle, despite my earlier epoxy repair. Metal tape helped me finish the job. I'll probably save the AC motor, never know what project will come across the desk.
Had to fix my patio door yesterday. Extruded aluminum hinge just plomb wore out. Of course they don't make that part anymore. So I Macgyvered a hinge out of a steel rod and made it work.
Next up is the ole Bissel Green machine. Water sprayer pump is bad, and I need to do the carpets before guests on Thanksgiving. So, I'll tear it apart and see if I can free up the pump with MMO or something.

Put together a 48,000 BTU propane reflector-type patio heater this morning. Works pretty well! It's in the low 40s around here and I was able to sit comfortably out on the covered deck with a cigar and coffee for about two hours without really getting cold. The thing is a bit ungainly and bulky, but it does put out good heat and extends the use of the deck well into fall.

Since our office is quite multicultural and it is sort of mid way between Canadian and US Thanksgiving we had a Thanksgiving morning tea. One of our American staff showed a video about Thanksgiving and one of our Canadian staff talked about the similarities and differences between how the two countries celebrate it. So basically both countries eat too much and watch football from America. Evidently even Canadians don't watch Canadian football!

So further to the “multicultural’ comment in my post above, I did a quick review of COO of the sixty people in the section I work for:
New Zealand – 36
United Kingdom – 6
South Africa - 6
United States – 2
China – 2
Malaysia – 1
India – 1
Vietnam – 1
Russia – 1
Australia – 1
Argentina – 1
Fiji – 1
Ukraine – 1

Of the 36 born in NZ 4 or 5 have at least one parent not born in New Zealand. In the last fifteen years in my section, I’ve also worked with Dutch, Portuguese, French, Iraqi, and Iranians. Ten years ago the proportion of South Africans would have been a lot higher.
