Bought a Christmas tree, it wasn’t to heavy.   :))

They get heavier every year Bob -- or more likely, I get weaker. Bought two yesterday, and the tree lot was in a frenzy. Damn things are getting expensive. Apparently there's a shortage this year.
Saw several truck loads coming out of New Brunswick on Friday. Not sure how far south they go but at least to NYC

Spent most of the day replacing breakers on the genset at work. This is the second breaker failure in as many months. #1 was a no start issue caused by a dead battery that we traced down to a faulty breaker. Today was a low water temp alarm. traced it down to another faulty breaker. with a 25% failure rate in 3 years of service I'm hoping it was just a bad run of breakers.

The breakers had no indication of failure, they appeared to in the "on" position, no trip indicated and would snap on and off like normal. But in the on position no power was going thru... Never had that happen before... GE breakers that came with the genset.

Today i put the tv antennae back on the roof.  Took it down about 7 years ago when we got a satellite dish for something to watch besides the 3  networks.   Since my wife passed on found i was watching very little.  The price of service kept going up,and cancelled it last spring.  Sent the box back.  No cable or options in the boonies,  so the antennae is up, getting 2 stations, and public tv, so climbing up there just may have been worhwhile.  Using 2 ladders to get up to the main roof, enjoying fine december weather 50s, and the view from 45 ft.   Anyway, got noise in the house for these long winter evenings.  And it doesnt have a monthly bill.

Finished work and headed down to the marina carpark to get a few photos of the cars assembling for the annual toy run organise by the Sopranos Car Club. There was about 300 cars present. Then headed to the Harbour Bridge to get them heading over to the Mount. Now heading home to edit photos, I think there is at least 500 photos in the camera.

Rural, I know you take a lot of photos and you post a lot here, and often of cars we never see here in the States and some beautiful scenery and also the underbelly of infrastructure.  First, thanks, we appreciate that.

Now to the question.  Taking that many pictures, are you doing club newsletters and the like.  Also, do you make any money off your photography or is it just a hobby?

I had only really been taking photos at offroad racing events, plus a few in my travels around the country for work. Last year I did the Photographic Portfolio course at the local ploytech. It was advertised as for existing photographers who wanted to push themselves. One of the guys I work with also did the course earlier this year and he is always badgering me to go out to take photos.

My photos are shared mainly on Facebook. They all go on my page. The offroad racing ones go on our club page as well. The other ones go on a few local photography pages and other specialist pages. A few go on my Instagram page. I don't make any money from my photography (unless you count the odd time work sends me out to get some shots for bids etc during work time), it is just a hobby. I do have a few prints of my photos hanging on people's walls that I would have been charged for if they hadn't been friends.

As for unusual cars, here are the three from the toy run on Friday night owned by people from work.

Early 70's Valiant Ranger station wagon (Chrysler)

Early 70's Holden HQ ute (GM). This belongs to the boyfriend of one of our summer students. He has owned it for the last five years and it has been back on the road for the last 18 months. It is good to see the next generation interested and actually doing it.

A more traditional rod. One of our accountants and her husband (who, because it is a small world, also belongs to our offroad racing club) own the one.

I rode over to Corpus Christi tx for the South Texas shootout. 26 limited modifieds on a 1/4 mile dirt track, running for a $5K purse made for some really good racing. But 90 miles of fog and the 0200 bedtime was bit rough.

Came home from Reno today after the Christmas party for the wife's work. We had it at a big casino and the wife had ordered a heck of a buffet spread with a carving station with some of the most tender tasty prime rib I have had in a while. We had a nice big private room for the party and they even comped us a TV in there so the bosses who came from Ohio could watch the Ohio St. game. The company also paid for rooms for all the employees so everybody was good with the open bar. We had a great time and the employees really appreciated what was done for them.

DeadNutz,

Slick, totally top notch, company doing something like this for the employees. Once upon a time, working for Xerox, Eastman Kodak, and Sun Micro systems.
Most corporations would do such things around the Holidays. All that is history and all gone by the wayside today. Want to take a wild guess as to why?

Surprised and happy to read one company out in the world. Apparently has more adults than children as employees.

Prim rib .. the best !

Cheers,
Pep

When the Nevada plant is kicking ass and getting the job done they get rewarded. In the year since they put the wife in charge of the plant the metrics have skyrocketed in all categories. They made a smart move. ;D

Spent the morning on site on the stage of  the safety project we are building currently and some completed stages getting some photos for the client's PR people. Also ran around with one of our designers and geotech engineers looking at some troublesome locations in the next stages.

Got back to the office to find a courier package waiting for me with these two rollcage joiners. A mate of mine who builds roller furling headsails for superyachts makes these. They are really well made but very expensive. These are going on to the side intrusion bar on my RZR so I can remove it when trail riding and marshalling so I don't have to keep climbing over it every time I get in and out.

I finished for the week and I'm now off to the main work Christmas party.

Been dealing with a bad outlet that's got 4 others down ( including the two in my garage  :'( )
Replaced two breakers before figuring out it was the outlet causing it to trip.
Got power coming from the breaker, power coming out of the wall, but none coming through the GFCI outlet.
Tried two and still nothing.

I called my uncle who knows all this stuff and he talked me through it since I don't know crap about electrical ( had to buy an outlet tester and Voltage tester which I should own anyways ) and i was able to identify the line and load, but I'm still doing something wrong.

I Will get it sorted out, it's just been so frustrating.
I've spent at least $100 at the local hardware in the past few days, now some of that was tools and such for a different project but still way too much on this outlet thing.
Oh well, this will all be experience for sure.
