When I got home I assembled a jigsaw puzzle  (new Supertrap muffler). Then I went to replace the four into one collector on the VW engine buggy so it can go to it's new owner. Rang the V-Dub Shop and ordered some new pipes.

I painted more of the trim on my porch. 2/3's of the way done with just the porch. This is one drawback of having an old house.

How long did it take to do the swap?

How long did it take to do the swap?

Actual swap probably an hour and a half drop to final tighten.  I had help getting it back over the springs.   Then changing thr E brake cable to the good one required mixing up some parts.    And s wheel cyl started leaking just as I hoped to finish the first side.    Tomorrow for the finish.  Adusting and bleeding to go after it is assembled.

Feels weird.  In the diesel shop I am the automotive expert.

Pretty good time on that. Did you reuse the U bolts?

Not a coastal vehicle so the underside is pretty much free of rust.  We were able to use near all the hardware.

The replacement axle was poorly stored but genuine low miles.  It even has good brake drums.
So nice to do one right.

The first diff I pulled was on a 63 or 4 Falcon. The bolts came but I worked pretty hard at it and immediately bought a long handle 1/2 ratchet.

The 18" breaker bar was laying in the dirt next to me during this.    I did grab at the shop tools some to try to make this go smoothly.

He has mostly Wurth tools on top and it really makes blind picking easier than the regular job shop.    My own kit is not well picked for yellow junk.  Big yellow stuff....

Good tools make the job better. Limited experience with Wurth but I hear good things from a Wurth fan boy.

Can't trust the fanboys...   next up some idiot will be loving on Oxwall and claim they made some usable tools.

The white GMC has tires and functional hydraulic and cable brakes.    I need a helper to bleed them when the guys return.

I never want a job that has me changing E brakr cables all day.   The axle runs quiet at high and low rpm both forward and reverse.  I win.  If I can get the brakes tight.

Crap day, tried but didn't get much accomplished. Forklift at work kicked my butt, then made one pass with the mower and it started pouring!

Oh and I broke a chunk out of one of my teeth. I hate the dentist.

Hope the tooth isn't too unpleasant to fix.

I don't mind the dentist but I should. The one we went to as kids didn't believe in using anesthetic on kids - he'd work on hot teeth.

I got him back though and good - I dated his daughter in HS.  :D :D :D

So far I have done nothing but emergency work to prep for huracun' Florence. I have 3 different projects in the foretasted path, one of the projects was suppose to go through its final performance test. It hard to test the performance of a waste water plant when the weather man is forecasting "biblical" flooding.   :o

Hope this storm doesn't pan out but its not looking good.
