Went to work for most of the morning. I'm now at our race track helping out with the last jobs before the first round of the National Off-road Racing Championships on Saturday.

Plenty of gear

Mowing our secondary pits

New sign going in

Beats digging post holes by hand

Usually this time of year we are hauling apples , but a hailstorm just after Christmas devastated the area where we are usually working. So what could have been 2 months work for 2 trucks this year is nothing. Following a phone call a couple of weeks ago , we’ve scored some work hauling spuds !

Road signs in.

You have to be an octopus to do the sign brackets up.

Walrus, kitchen looks great.  Digging the wide drawers.  I know you are tall, is your wife also and are the counters normal height or tall.

Assuming the counter tops survived
Granite survived, the cabinets are on a 2" step so 2" higher than normal. Not real noticeable. My old cabinets were up 2 inches also

proper pit parking?? yeah good luck with that.  :lol_hitting: Some of the best fights I've seen at the race track was over pit parking.

That least these guys seemed to get it.

Water going on the track

Small water storage devices arriving.

Prizegivnig marquee erected. It was hilarious trying to teach the rest of our crew how to tie a proper truckers hitch, rather than a cheat one.

Got home and was eating dinner when Jason rang me asking if I could come and tag (safety inspect) their RS1 as Dyson might have to race that tomorrow instead of this turbo RZR. They were changing the front diff oil and it was full of metal flake!

I got there to find that they had made three diffs into one. Raana turned up to borrow some 'go fast' bits off Dyson's RS1 for his son's RS1. So after Dyson proved the front diff was working by hooning around in the gully behind the workshop, they started swapping parts over on the RS1.

Thanks for giving us a little behind the scene look at what it takes to get ready for a weekend of racing!

Racing finished at 2:30pm, one hour protest window, then prize giving. Afterwards thr church group one of our members belongs to fed us. Now it is 4:30 and we have packed up the marquee and most of the rest of the gear and are just about ready to go home. Better than some events where prize giving hasn't started until 9:00pm!

Looks like you pulled off a great event with your hard work. I do miss getting air under the buggy though. :(

5 June in Christchurch is the 3rd South Island Round and the National Final is at Kurow on 23 October (both events have enduro races on the Sunday but for spectators, that is like watching paint dry). I'll be at both of these events in my official capacity.
