This morning I drove the 25 miles up to Lake Tahoe to get some Powerball and Mega Millions tickets. Nobody in line ahead of me as usual at this little gas station less than 1/2 in from the state line. That was far enough into that state for me but I still left the carry at home. It is not worth the risk of even having it properly locked up empty and magazines and ammo in a locked container in the bed of the truck. ::)
No lotto here as the casinos don't want any competition.

Watched a Dodgefiatlanciaalpharomeo vision go home after a rocker panel repair.  Not a horrible car really despite a sketchy family tree.

A Lancia body with Fiat power and Dodge electronics...  what could go wrong?

Never heard of a Lancia, had to Google it.

Lancia has been brought over a couple times last I believe was in the 70's. The last good one had running boards and a crank.
People who confuse etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can’t put into words.

Buy a new Dodgy Vision and you can own a new one.  You like Mopig  so it might be a good choice.

Honestly it isn't really a horrible car compared to the French Nissans.

Lancia could make a car that rusted out in five years in the Sahara.   The had some sporty stuff but the bodies turned to a brown stain and four tires while you were shopping.

Steve's right. Back in the late 70's and early 80's Lancia was Fiat's performance sports car division. The brands shared many components and engines. Both were susceptible to electronic failures and prone to major body rot problems. Fiat pulled both Lancia and their Fiat brand from the US market in the early 80's.

That said, when tuned and maintained, the damn things were excellent handling and performing sports cars. Unfortunately many American customers had the same maintenance mindset with a Lancia or Fiat as they would with a Ford or Chevy; change the oil every now and then and forget about it.

Lancia dominated on the European rally circuit for many years. They had much less money and only FWD cars and still managed to beat the pants off of the Audi Quattro teams.

Well the 04 Astro is beginning to show it's age in several areas.

Had the rear door stops showing severe wear. Bad design, soft steel hinge that flexes every time and are now failing to hold the doors open. (In the pic you can see how the paint has flaked off due to the steel flexing).  Can't remove them, as one time the wind snatched a door out of my hands and it flipped around 180 degrees and dented the door!  >:(

So I removed the passenger side (which gets used slightly more) - the door stop was almost fatigue-cracked all the way through. Couldn't undo the 3 bolts, because the nuts on the other side are tucked in behind the plastic tail light shell. Had to break my way into there, remove the nuts and stop, and fashion something that would work and not flex. Found a shelf brace at Ace of the right thickness and basic shape (4$ and tax!!!), and after a couple of attempts got a pull design that seems to work well. Will give it a workout for a couple of weeks - if it appears to hold I'll make another one for the opposite door.
Also thinking of converting the van to full personal use so it'll be a hippy/camper van. :D   Good for short trips or get out of dodge situations. So need to rig up a handle and lock so the rear doors can be opened from the inside. Little engineering there. Then I'll draw up plans for a layout.

Changing the front struts on my 09 Ford F150 because one spring had broke, so changing them both. Had to separate the top ball joint, wound up cutting the nut off. Had to separate the sway bar and wound up cutting that nut off to. Now going to the store to buy more nuts. The bottom nut on the strut itself is a 30mm and has 300lbs of torque. I hope the other side goes better. It's suppose to be a 1 1/2 job. In a full shop maybe but not in the driveway.

I always figure double the amount of time they say. I am no pro wrench, though very well equipped I am still no pro so I figure twice the amount of time.
You boys better hold on cause I'm gonna have to stand on it!

I sold a bunch of antique wrenches of the beat up variety to a shop that had no big wrenches.  Now he has big heavy duty anti-bling wrenches and on the cheap.  For a change it was hard to sell the 3/4" and smaller.  Weird.

I have not even offered metrics yet until the one guy sees them.

Not a challenge to sell dbe or metric combos but these big old carbon steel things are for targeted buyers at best.  80 years in and more to go.  Lol!

I am happy to own 8 less tools as they are tomorrows market money.  Sweet!

We did some car repairs today too but I forgot what we did.

Installed my rebuilt PS pump on the Mazda truck, and changed the oil on the wife's Traverse. A good afternoon's work in the garage. It was cold and rainy out, but the garage was nice and warm
