Had a birthday party for some family members.

Sam was "driving" the grain truck.

Cute kid and better looking than his father :-\

Cheers,

Not an easy task. Last time I ground a flat spot where I wanted the entry hole and ran a die back over the threads after. Allowed me to centerpunch where I wanted the hole so the bit didn't dance all over.

That is the way to do it. What grade was the bolt?

Last night the wife pulled it off again as usual. We went the Country Club Restaurant for dinner and I was surprised when 4 friends walked in the door to join us. She always pulls something off for my birthday even though today is my birthday but the restaurant is closed on Sunday.
I had the Opakapaka (Hawaiian Pink Snapper) which I never had before and it was great. We also ate Basque style which is family style and they bring out endless salad, soup, beans and fries. It also included tongue stew, which is fantastic, a carafe of red wine, ice cream and coffee. You don't leave that place hungry for sure.

Yep Mark1 had one when I was younger, traded it, missed it, so I bought this one.

Years ago I made that same mistake when trying to change the u-joints on my 1986 GMC. Sadly, I did not give up trying to press the u-joint out until I actually cracked and broke in half a very nice quality old vise, (a big vise too) One of the few times in my life I resorted to cheatering the handle and I know well that if I kept pushing it I was going to break that vise which sadly I did. Only afterward did I find out about needing to use a torch on that kind of u-joint.

I have never again resorted to cheatering the handle on a vise and never will. That was about 25 years ago and I knew better when I did it.

What brand of vise was it?

I don't recall. I just remember it was a good one, something like a Reed or other such quality brand. The only brands that I know it was not are Wilton and Columbian. It was a quality old timer with little wear.
You boys better hold on cause I'm gonna have to stand on it!
