One day I noticed a palm seedling taking root by the outer pool area....

I should'a pulled it right then and there
10 years later it is 20" at the base, and 20' high
No place to get my machinery in there
Years of topping it didnt kill it
Out comes the hose to soak the ground
Out comes the chain coffin jack
Tilt to the left by anchoring to another stump (that should have been pulled as a sapling)
Tilt to the right by anchoring to a full grown queen palm I dont care for
Crack go some of the anchoring roots
Repeat several times
Out she comes, probably a full 1,000 lbs
Out comes the chainsaw and makes a messy mess (but its now in small chunks)
Out comes the beefy hand truck to wheel it to where I can get it to the front loader
Outta gas, off to the station
Truck and trailer are blocking my exit out of the back yard
Truck wont start (sheesh, dang diesel that gets running only every 5 months or so)
Charge the batteries (one is bad) , still not enough poop to spin at speed
Out comes the spare monster group 49 battery that runs my winch
3 batteries and jumper cables, and charger set on boost, she lights up. Yaaaa
Move the other cars in the driveway to clear a path to the street
Out goes the first load to the neighborhood dumpster brought in for "community cleanup" this week
3 palm loads later (and waiting till 6am) before I trek through the neighborhood with the loader.....

Job DONE!

I like playing with that loader  ;)

That and look at how big it is in relation to the shoes.

They're rated to stop and hold 15K+ lbs on a 15% min grade and do it repeatedly two shifts a day for a 10k-20k hour service life. So yah, it probably overbuilt compared to other things.

Looks like serious stopping power there.

What’s the biggest forklift you’ve ever seen?

RE: Biggest

I don't know if they'd classify as a forklift, but I've been around a few LeTourneau log loaders at mills. They are diesel/electric and use giant magnetic retarders for braking.

I've also worked with a friend doing a tranny on a old CAT 988 mil-surp forklift, which is a standard front end loader with a 25 ton forklift mast.

Broke a 6 point, 3/8 drive craftsman socket that I've owned since the 70s. Rusty 3/8 bolt, 6 point 9/16 just went round and round. Pounded the 6pt 1/2 on and heard snap. oops. I then pounded a 12 pt 1/2 drive Craftsman on . that worked fine :D
