Proud Moment Today!
« on: September 19, 2020, 11:44:17 PM »
Conductor Jr. has always had tools, but mostly the kind of stuff I didn’t care to hit with the mower. Today he stepped up to his first big boy set. He selected a HF 44” roller cab in his favorite color green and $300 worth of essentials from HD. He has wrenches and sockets on his Christmas list, but I think he spent his money pretty wisely covering some basics.

After all we’ve been through this is one of those special days I didn’t know if we’d ever get to share.

Between Christmas and his Birthday he’ll have a fine setup for a boy turning 12.

I am impressed, thats a bit more than the average basics as I know them.

My ten year old has a tote with about ten tools and uses them around the house.  So far nothing destroyed and half hidden.
The hacksaw and hammer are worrisome.

MAGA

If you can’t fix it with a hammer, it must be electrical.

I definitely see some good choices in there, especially the blue stuff  ;)

Congrats, it's good you can share a love of tools.
Hopefully the next thing he does is drags home a thrown away lawn mower you can teach him how to fix.
Always lookin' to learn

Wow -- what a great start for a pre-adolescent young boy. You certainly set a new standard Travis; well done! He'll remember this moment the rest of his life.

Nice selection. Funny I just bought that same set of blue prybars.

But the best part is you have this time to share.
People who confuse etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can’t put into words.

That is great Travis and considering what your son went through he may have more appreciation for things than others his age. :bravo_2:

Wow that's a great setup to start out with. I didn't have anything near that when I was twelve..... although come to think of it I may have lost that many tools of my father's by then.

Thanks guys. He’s definitely been bitten by the tool bug. He’s already ordered Tekton’s biggest combo set, and a 3/8” service set on the way and his Christmas list is nothing but tools. We selected Tekton because I’m very familiar with them and admire them as a Company. Best mail in warranty and customer service in the business.  Lot of import stuff, but they’re adding USA stuff all the time and improving their line. He’ll get a lot of bang for his buck now, and when I’m gone he’ll have all the Proto and MAC he can handle. I gifted him a lime green dual 80 to get him started with a good rat.

I didn’t get into tools until I was 14, but he takes really good care of his stuff is is much more mechanical than I was at his age. One of those moments that a year ago I wasn’t sure I’d ever get to share and thank God that I do.

Funny that! These days with the Internet it's easy for teenage boys to find "girly" pics online, but in my day all of my teenage gearhead friends kept our boxes locked because we didn't want our parents to find our stash of Playboy and Penthouse mags --- LOL

:)) I'll have to snoop in GFs box for those rare Playboy issues that are worth money these days. Got any of Marilyn?

Last I had heard playboy wasn't even putting "those" pictures in the magazine to go along with their written pieces. What is the world coming to.

I had a subscription to Playboy years ago.  It was really cheap, less than $15 a year, but the content was really turning into garbage and strongly exposed a certain political viewpoint.  I didn't renew it.
