Power tool repairs
« on: January 16, 2021, 12:24:15 PM »
My brother sent me two power tools he needs fixed - a Bosch power shear, and a B&D drill.

The shear doesn't come on (bad switch?) and vibrates badly (bad bearings?) Of course all three parts are NLA from my #2 supplier. Perhaps a local bearing shop could fix me up. But what's this - made in Switzerland? Probably means worth fixing.  :great:

The drill he says works but shocks badly. Could be the cord????? Anyway, if I fix it, he says I can have it. So, being it's one of my dad's tools I really want to repair and restore it.

The Swiss Bosch stuff is first rate, i`m always on the lookout for them.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

I had a vintage B&D angle buffer with an aluminum body and I was buzzed a few times by it. I could never figure out if it was the buffer, or me holding it at odd angles while buffing, and my body giving nerve/muscle feedback (sounds weird I know). If I recall correctly, it was not double insulated, but I re-corded it and grounded it. It got sold off and the Milwaukee stuff graces the garage now.

Yep, that cord could use a new lease in life as a first step.
