Found this on "Gus Wilson's Model Garage" (There is a thread on it stickied at the top)

Neat bunch of old articles in Popular Sciences from the 1940s. They need to teach more of this kind of thing in the modern day!

I especially like the idea of using a reel lawnmower and a roller skate as a dolly.

I saw that one and it reminded me of my great uncle Francis that hated torque tube drive shafts

If you had to replace a clutch in a pre-49 Ford car, the whole differential had to come out, torque tube driveline on yeah.

I am fairly sure pulling the engine and transmission would be a much less punishing way to go.
