Buy them cheap at Walmart, Craigslist, or on ebay. Used they often sell less than a dollar/lb.

Here is a 10lb plate I picked up from Walmart on clearance some years ago. It's dirty cast iron, but machines quite easily, and you can make dozens of these things to use as adapters, fixtures, or face plates.
