Anyone into old tube radios?
« on: February 10, 2024, 03:32:18 PM »
Standard question I ask when I join a forum. I'm already established on Antique Radio Forums (ARF) and an email list. But you never know where someone might be.

I'm not advanced at all working on electronics but I have a good test and repair bench for a newbie. All the usual and necessary equipment starting with the most important, an isolation transformer.

Always looking for a mentor near or far.

Been working on radios for many years both tube and transistor.

After my USAF career in electronics/computers I started collecting and working on vintage Volkswagen radios.  I repaired them for owners and sold ones I acquired.

I also have many tube radios, a number of German (Blaupunkt, Grundig, EMUD) and a lot of portable tube models.

ARF has been my go-to for advice and expertise for some time, I use the same moniker there.

Attached are pictures of my daily-driver radio along with a couple of portables I finished up a while ago.

Great,  Nick, I'll look you up. I'm Zeke on ARF as well. I have an RCA that looks a lot like your DD.
