Title: Craftsman (Made in Taiwan) E series wrenches
Post by: crankshaftdan II on December 15, 2018, 11:17:23 PM
First vintage "Made in Taiwan" c-man wrench that I have found--anyone else ran into this type with the "E" code?   Must have been dangling their feet in the fire before CHINA!!!!

Not seen that in the wild before, tho it does have that bloated-box-end-import look to it.

Sure, years before Chins Sears played with both Taiwan and Japan! Prior attempts were short lived and not well received. Then China came along and the brand was done.

Not sure, but it may have been for the Canadian market. Sears Canada tried all kinds of money saving gimmicks early on in that market. The Canadians were the first to get a lot of imported Craftsman offerings.

The Japan tools were pretty good. I've got a bunch of that stuff. but cant say I've seen a Taiwan wrench.

I bought a set of Sears DBE's marked with a BF in the 80's I think. They were fine.
