That is really nice. The spinner handle is a beauty. I have the same ratchet which I like a great deal but the set is way out of my league.

Thanks guys!

This particular Blackhawk set is one of my all time favorites. I started with just the box. Trying to finding nice quality pieces made this a pretty tough one to put together.

I'll bet that was a challenge to put together.

Here's a pic of my Challenger set.  I'm guessing it's mid '70s.
I find it interesting the plastic box is considered one piece of the set!

Here is a Walden set I put together recently out of mostly NOS sockets, some with a bit of residual cosmoline, that would be an exact specification matching set for late WW2. This set would have been included in the General Mechanics Tool Set from 4/45 through the end of the war. For some reason the government changed the spec to include only 6 and 8 point sockets, as well as doing away with the ratchet, extension and crossbar. Towards the end of the war Walden was going away from their previously produced knurled sockets to a style with the two slots. Most sets contained a mix of the two styles.

That's true of almost all US-made sets from that era - from the 60's through the 80's at least.

42Jeep, I love the way that socket box hinges from the end. Almost like a flip phone for tools! :D

Thanks. I think the Walden tools were pretty high quality for back then. Here is a mostly postwar set I put together a couple of days ago. I was short two chrome sockets.

One of my all time favorite 1/4 sets. A large =v= series with lots of goodies. The =v= series is my favorite because the tools were high quality at an affordable price.
that is a assume Craftsman set never seen one like it

Private Lugnutz on the journal somehow procured 10 of these sets, Williams 1285P Midget Electrical Set. They are WW2 era military surplus, NOS repacks with a nice coating of cosmoline. I was lucky to grab one, should be here next week. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning!!

It has the original metal box (decal was deteriorated by cosmoline) as well as the original cardboard box the set shipped in.

I should add I've been after one of those Williams spinners forever now. To not only find one, but NOS WW2 military surplus? With the complete original set? Hell yeah!!!
