An old Craftsman BE set I picked up. the box is almost cooler than the set. This is one of my long term projects. I cant decide if I want to restore it or just preserve it. its pretty crusty tho.

That BE ratchet is a real war horse. I had one and when I got it it was just about solid. Took it apart and cleaned out all the hardened grease a little cleaning and some new grease and it was amazing. I gave it to a friend eventually.
People who confuse etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can’t put into words.

These Duro-Indestro sets are desirable to WW2 toolset collectors because they come with most of the D-I sockets to complete a General Mechanics Tool Set commonly referred to as a GMTK. They were also purchased by the Navy as can be seen from the NAF catalog listing. Here are mine.

Okay not a half inch drive set, but a set of half inch drive sockets.   Full set of SK polished sockets, almost no wear, only 4 had any dirt in them.  Actually got two sets, 3/8 - 1-1/4,  one never used and one that's been used hard.   Found in a junk store in an old shoe box.  Thought it was amazing that a good quality set of sockets sat unused for decades,  always felt the finish on these SK was better than any others sold at that time.  Haven't looked to see what the period set would look like.

I always favored that style of SK sockets and wanted a set too.
You boys better hold on cause I'm gonna have to stand on it!

Very nice Don!
Thanks. I added crossbars to the sets because I feel like they should have come with them since the extensions have crossbar holes.

Here is a Powr-Kraft set I found at an estate sale earlier in the year in Lafayette, CA. The wrenches were supplied by Barcalo and the other tools by Wright. It turns out that the original owner lived close to my summer home.

Here is a different 1/2 inch drive set that I picked up cheap a few years ago.  Works great around propane tanks etc.  Ampco, the none sparking tool co.
