My son got a basketball for his Bday.  He asked me for a hoop.   So today I whipped one up from scrap.

He 'suggested' to mom he needs a smooth floor too
 :)

I got off easy it seems.

Good work! ...but you know that sooner or later you'll have to even up that dirt and pour concrete or a blacktop.

There will be no cement poured for a basketball court.   Interests are fleeting at his age so this hoop and backboard are a tiny bit of money.  It only has to look expensive to his guests.

I am not even sure he really can play but this I won't deny him a basic part.  Maybe he will even be good at it sooner or later.
I never played in my lifetime.  Never played any sport really.

I know what you mean Curtis. When I was in the ICU a week and a half ago, a friend from our EAA chapter was in the room next door in an induced coma. :o

Dang, an induced coma don't sound good. Hope everything worked out OK for him.

They brought him out of the coma the day I left and a couple days later he had another cardiac event and they put in a pacemaker earlier this week and now he is doing much better. His piloting days are over now.

Does the pacemaker curtail his flying or the heart issue? Either way at least the PM can get him back to normal function.

FAA doesn't like PMs or cardiac events for good reason. It is possible to get another medical issued after a cardiac event but it depends on the severity of it.

Yesterday was a 400km round trip to do the Annual Technical Inspection on some of our club race cars. First stop was south of Rotoura at Lake Rerewhataaitu

Mt Tarawera in the clouds.

Then on to Taupo. The area is all of volcanic origin. I haven't seen it this dry for years we are definitely in drought conditions.

At the next stop there were three Yamaha utvs to inspect.

This was at Shades Truckings yard. They are a small specialist transport company that has roll back trucks. They shift a lot of trailer boats and at least five coffee carts a week.

On the way home I stopped at Acacia Bay at Lake Taupo to have a look.

Today I headed up to the workshop and Jason welded up my broken race seat. Now I'm helping on the final assembly of the turbo RZR that is being built for a hill climb.

Finally picked up the bead blast cabinet today. Hope to finish wiring the compressor tomorrow and I will test it to see how it works.

I made the missing floor plate of the old backhoe out of some plate and did some magic making a rather expensive to replace shift lever knob from bits of two older ones.  Pics tomorrow but it looks like it was never damaged.

Then I helped the others lower a big Eaton trans from a Kodiak truck.

In the process of all this a grinder ran to the end of its lifespan and the head broke off the sledge.  The hammer is fixed and tomorrow supposedly new brushes for the grinder.

The guys in the shop thought I was being anal when I told them to get off the forklift and pick up the metal banding rather than run it over.
