The TR3 isn't that bad getting out the Spitfire though is lower and the door doesn't open quite as wide.

My dad had a TR3 when I was a kid. He bought side curtains for it and somebody promptly stole them. :(
I might still have the factory shop manual for it around here somewhere.

In 2000 we were stuck in Queenstown after Warbirds over Wanaka so we went to the car museum. They told us "We're shutting down, everything is going next week, sit in anything you want". I sat in the E Type Jag. With the sill basically at the seat height it was interesting trying to get out. Nowadays, with a dodgy knee, I would probably be a permanent fixture :D

Even by the standards of the day they weren't that fast. Dead simple and fun to drive and handled adequately. And a blast to drive.
The Spitfire has anti Ackerman steering and can turn in a tiny circle - the only factory built car with a smaller turning circle is the Smart car. The TR3 is a conventional steering box with Ackerman type steering. It handles about like model A with a low center of gravity and rides like a wooden wagon. Did I mention they are a complete joy to drive (and I am serious despite the comments)?

My dad upgraded to a TR4 when I was 6 or 7. It had a hardtop.
I rode on the rear package shelf when we went anywhere. I'll never forget my head thumping against the rear window every time dad upshifted.

No details are available to read, nor price. I'll just create my own.
Ran when parked last month, driven only on Sundays, loads of spare OE parts, no time to fix the glove compartment bulb. Clear title in hand, I just dont have know-how to put air in the tires. Selling to spite my ex.

It was a TR3 project car listed at 9500. The seller had some stuff done like the engine and trans and frame rebuilt and the pix looked like it was in decent enough shape with a lot of new parts. Not the one pictured below but same basic car.
wilbilt what did your father upgrade from? It is pretty cramped in the package self on those even for a kid.

The paint is much better than what British Leyland did. But they are rather sporty, at least to my eye and such a blast to drive.
Interesting factoid the TR3 was the first car to have standard disc brakes.

From the TR3 to a TR4.
Eventually he bought a TR6 but blew up the rear end. It sat in the driveway for a couple of years until he sold it. That was the last Triumph he ever owned.

A Triumph guy then. The TR6 is a nice car. There was a TR7 (not my cup of tea) and a TR8 which had a V8 but looked like the 7. I don't think either were very popular.
The TR3 was pretty cool but small.
