This morning at 4am-ish I looked out the window and saw that there was 100% cloud cover so canned the idea of sunrise photos of the derelict oyster boats on Bluff Harbour and went back to sleep. At a more civilised hour I went to E Hayes a hardware in town. Norman Hayes, one of the directors, was a friend of Bert Munro's and helped him build many parts for his bikes. Consequently, E Hayes have ended up with a lot of Bert's memorabilia, including Bert's "World's Fastest" Indian.

They also have two of the replica bikes from the movie. There is also a large motorcycle collection. All this is free to view, just wander into the shop and have a look.

The second stop of the day was Classic Motorcycle Mecca. This is an impressive collection of motorcycles.

On the second floor are more motorcycles.

There is a Britten corner.

As well as some more Bert Munro memorabilia.

Third stop before leaving Invercargill, and the main reason I came here, was Bill Richardson's Transport Museum. To say this is extensive is an understatement.

I travelled to Dunedin via the Catlins, the south east corner of the South Island. It is entirely different to the Alpine type scenery I've been in previously. It is coastal temperate rainforest like.

Waipapa Lighthouse.

Curio Bay.

The 250m  Tunnel Hill tunnel on the defunct Catlins River Branch railway. It was built in 1896 and abandoned in 1971. It is maintained as a walking track.

Made it to my accommodation for the next two nights about 8:30pm.

Nicest place I've stayed so far this trip. It is one road back from St Clair Beach. I've basically got a quarter of the first floor, with "semi sea views".

Thanks for sharing Rural. It is amazing to see so many vintage and priceless antiques saved by so many different entities on just the south island.
