Wrench atrocity or fitting end?
« on: August 17, 2018, 02:23:12 PM »
I dragged home this big ol' foreign wrench last year....think I paid 15 bucks for it at a yard sale. Larger side is a hair over 3" and it is around 32" long...

It's marked Williams Brooklyn

I'm kinda thinking about welding it up as a table base.

What say you....atrocity or fitting end?

More pix of the B?
That poor 1965 B is the red headed step child of my garage. It is always getting pushed away while cooler things are being worked on. I pulled it out of an old chicken coop about ten years ago, blocked out the 'nearly finished' body and spent a bundle on the mechanicals. Something in the bodywork reacted and the whole car was covered in razor slices down to the metal...I took a sanding disc to it and found all sorts of bad metalwork.  After a few weekends of hammer and dollying I sprayed it with epoxy primer and there she sits...no bondo now.

Even though I have a Spittie (and a project TR6) and covet a GT6 I also like the B's. A CGT would be #1 on the list but a B is great too. I saw a chrome bumpered B a couple weeks ago I was drooling over but it also was white and I have to say I just dislike white cars. Still tossing it around though.

Thanks for the pix.

I'm not sure the seller just had a for sale sign on it with a number and price - no year. But it was chrome bumper which puts it 74 or earlier. I think it was 67 or later but I don't know the cars all that well.

I have the number still you interested?

I'm not sure ....

Did it have the steel dash? If so-it is 1967 or earlier.

Dangerous in what way?

Gas fumes or exhaust can build up real easy...it's the lowest point in the shop.

If something happens, it's not always easy to get out.

Would not seem a problem if the car was not started or ran when in the pit. As for other fumes or vapors one or two small fans would assure safe oxygen levels safe at all times if ran while occupying the space. I would love to have a pit.

Yeah, don't tell your insurance company, lots of accidents as result of pit. NEC says its a class 1 Division 1 area in a repair facility, Explosion proof lights, all piped in galvanized pipe and seals offs. Lots of cars driven in to pits, lots of people have fallen into pits.
But I can see your point, pits make working under a car better. For what building a pit would cost you could buy a good used lift, maybe even a new one?
