That is cool.

I've heard the Ford industrial V4 was used with two cylinders as a compressor, but have never seen one, or the one you discovered.

There is a relatively inexpensive kit available for air cooled VWs to convert them to a two cylinder engine running a 2 cylinder compressor. Model T engines were converted as well so the idea has been around a long time.
