Craftsman ratcheting box end wrenches

I picked these up in a box lot last Saturday and wonder when they were made.  I never had interest in them in the past as most I found had the plastic damaged around the edge.  These are mint and METRIC in the original pouch.  I fact, they may have never been used.

back in the day i had as sae  set labeled as wilde. same one or 2 companies made  all of them anyway but i digress.

anyway, the ones i had were offset rather than straight. i used them a fair amount and was happy with them. the minute the gearwrench style of combo wrench came out they got replaced. i can't even say for sure what happened to them. i may have sold them.

I have an old vintage set of Dunlap ratcheting box wrenches that are pretty nice. I'm not 100% certain but I'm pretty sure they didn't make those in metric.

Anyway a USA made set like that in metric would probably prove handy for DIYers like me. To find a NOS set is noteworthy!

I still have them -- and they get hung on the tool board designated as "loaners". Neighborhood kids come by all the time asking to borrow a wrench to fix the odd bike or scooter, and that's what I usually hand them. For non automotive jobs, like bikes and decks that use carriage and lag bolts, these things come in handy -- sometimes.

Don't get me wrong - I love my GW. But the ole Dunlap's are tough-as-nail users.
And rebuildable in the DIYers garage, too!

I didn't say I liked them, I just want to know when they might have been made.  I also bought the gear wrenches in SAE and metric when they first came out.

I have an sae SK set somewhere, they live in the toolbox of my truck so if I lose them it wont be to stressful.

I have had a set of them for a long time.  One or 2 got used often assembling guns, wands, quick couplers on hoses, etc.  Can't say we ever broke one.  Like others, when the Gearwrench style came out, those got pushed aside pretty quickly,,,,,,,,BUT, I think they will take more abuse the GW type.

You nearly have to pay someone to even take the Snap-on versions too.

^^^^^^^Lot of truth there but every once in a while, I will see them sell well at an auction.  I have sold a few but I just took all mine out of the display and they are headed for an auction down the road.

I've got a set of bent ones-----they have their uses.  1/4" to 7/8" no skips.
That's a bastard Proto in the back 1/2"-9/16".

I think maybe Kastar / Lang tools may have made them, I know they offer such wrenches today.
