You don't want to drill through the keyway you want to drill through the shear line. The shear line is where the pins would line up if the correct key was used. Basically you want to drill out the pins and leave the keyway intact. Once the pins are drilled out a screwdriver can be used to turn the cylinder and open the lock.

I would post an image but it's not information I wish to put out to the world even though it's easily found in a quick search.

Kind of like the sadness of seeing someone use vise grips on perfectly good fasteners. :lol_hitting:
