Great estate sale!
« on: October 29, 2020, 11:50:03 AM »
Read about this estate sale on Craigslist a few day ago, and it was on my side of town. It looked good, so, I got up early and went.
Candy store heaven! While it is always sad to hear about the reason behind it (I talked to one of the sons and he told me about his dad and all the tools) I told him that with the box of stuff I grabbed he could be sure they had found an appreciative home. Great prices, well sorted out - even the ladies present knew stuff and were helping customers out! Finally found a two-headed Crescent wrench (8-10) so can't wait to get it all cleaned up.
They had garden stuff, car chemicals, plumbing and carpentry tools, piles of plastic milk crates, a whole section of pump sprayers, even rollaway tool boxes! Just a great time overall.

Yeah, not enough dim and dingy holes with roofs about to fall in for me.

I would have to pass.

(looks like a lot of good stuff.)

I would have no money left right now if I went there.

I saw lots of great stuff, including that table fu of deer stag, oh how I'd love to pick through there and find a few very choice knife handles.
Always lookin' to learn

So out there is an Estate sale a yard sale or an auction? Usually around here a Estate sale is an auction.

Out here, a yard sale or garage sale is a small individual thing. An estate sale is basically everything but the four walls, and rummage sales are usually church or community accumulations dumped on tables for your consideration. Auctions are professionally run affairs planned far in advance, and one needs to register beforehand with some sort of fund guarantee up front (usually a CC)

Being unemployed I have to leave my "tool card" at home  :03:   - limiting myself to $20 cash. Unless it is a necessary household item, then I can spend more.

I might go back tomorrow as the wife OK'd it.

Upon closer examination the double headed Crescent wrench has some issues. Lots of buggars and knicks, and both sets of jaws are out of square and damaged. Should I sell it as is or try and disassemble and straighten it up for use?

I have a couple of double-headed adjustables, always missing one dynamic jaw by the time it comes to me. I keep waiting for the right pieces to fall into my lap. You will find the right ones eventually.
