Title: Speeder screwdriver ?
Post by: hickory n Steel on September 08, 2018, 02:52:19 PM
Besides the klein rapidrive which is not exactly the same, why is that it seems nobody ever really thought to produce a speeder bit driver or really any speeder screwdriver ?
It's not like it would be hard at all for a company to produce or anything.

It seemed like an awesome idea so I made one and I was right,  the speeder screwdriver is an awesome tool and I love it
( I don't remember, but I've got the picture so I must've posted it on the old GG )

I've used it quite a bit and I really like it, it has me baffled by the fact that nobody ever produced these

Am I missing something here, or has nobody ever really thought to produce this ?
Is there a good reason why they don't seem to exist, such as the Yankee screwdriver already existing ?

Somebody asked about a similar tool over at GJ, and one of the replies was this tool. Gotta say I like it, might have to make one out of an unused 1/4" drive extension.

I like that idea.

I may have to try making something like that , of course not folding though.
I've got an old proto spinner handle that the yellow handle broke off of.

Yeah, me too.

I've got some aluminum square stock and a knurled handle. I think I can fab a similar tool with an extension and then a magnetic socket on the end. Could really spin fast.
I also have several Proto yellow handles that I can scavenge for parts.

I made something of this " pedal shape " format, and while very crude it does work.
It's very crude so I'm not going to post a picture of it, but the idea does work and is pretty fast.
If I had the skill and materials I'd probably make a good version of it, but the classic speeder version I've already got works so well too and was really easy to make

I recently found this Old Forge ST4 speeder flathead, got it with a bunch of other old tools. So, at least one other mfr that wasn't Klein.

I'd call that a sidewinder driver! Just looks like a snakes trail.  :)

JAFE,

Which one is the snath wrench?

The black shiny one or the rusty one above it?

My money's on the rusty one.

PS- My spell checker does not recognize the word "snath"

Geneg (a palindrome by the way) is correct the one under the Ell wrench.
