Chevy brought out the Fleetside in 58, got one,  beat by Ford by one year.  However the Fleetside tailgate was full width.  Chevy also used  double wall box sides.  The Ford was narrow like the stepside, made a difference when loading things.

That gas station has 3 different brands of pumps. I didn’t know that ever happened.
MAGA

If you can’t fix it with a hammer, it must be electrical.

That gas station has 3 different brands of pumps. I didn’t know that ever happened.

In those days, gas stations purchased their gas through distributors. It may be their local distributor carried more than one brand or the station had relationships with more than one distributor. My dad had a good relationship with the local Gulf distributor, more than once we had Gulf merchandise (usually motor oil) on our shelves alongside our Esso products. We were receiving gas directly from the Esso terminal so we always hid off-brand product whenever the rep was making the rounds.

The kids working on the old flat head may have known a thing or two about hot rods. Swap a head gasket out in front of the parts house!!

That last one, 59 Rambler , 57 Cadillac, 56 Desoto?, 55 Nash?, 56 Pontiac.  Just ordinary cars in 1960.  All a great batch of photos.
