We got hit by a series of storms last week, each one stronger than the previous. Loads of rain and record breaking high winds caused massive amounts of damage in my area and beyond. Check out some of the videos showing waves breaching the Tsawassen Ferry terminals, White Rock pier, some restaurant down in Washington and so on.
Locally a lot of trees came down and over 100,000 customers were without power. Ours was out for about 38 hours which hasn't happened in decades. Crews are still working on restoring power, clearing roadways of lumber and other damage.
We were lucky that the power outage was our only problem. We have several large trees on our lot and neighbouring properties but they all stayed where they're supposed to be...apart from a carpet of fir branches on the ground afterwards. Some of our friends had trees fall on their houses, cars, outbuildings, etc.
Hopefully the worst is past and things calm down for Christmas!
